Job Description
As the chef, you’ll take complete responsibility for every plate that gets served and the overall direction of the menu. You’ll be expected to innovate and iterate on the menu to provide creative, quality food while meeting profit goals. You will be responsible for hiring and supervising the kitchen staff and coaching employees on consistency, technique and skills.
Responsibilities
- Create menus
- Direct the food prep process
- Plan & order ingredients and necessary equipment
- Arrange for kitchen repairs when needed
- Use P&L statements to effectively manage costs and meet budgets
- Hire, manage, and train kitchen staff
- Oversee kitchen staff, looking for opportunities to counsel or coach
- Foster cooperation, collaboration and respect
- Have knowledge of and enforce all safety and sanitation requirements

Business partners, Jason Sheetz and Chef William Sigley, opened Hammocks Trading Company in the summer of 2012. As a Sandy Springs native, Jason knew the area was in need of a place where locals could gather and enjoy fresh food in a relaxed atmosphere. Located on Roswell Road in the old Bridgetown Grill location, Hammock’s casual beachy atmosphere and wrap-around deck offers our guests a true staycation. Chef William has created a menu that showcases his Baja California roots creatively combined with Southern flare. Hammock’s sizable menu offers oysters on the half shell, fresh catch fish and our award winning Grouper Sandwich, voted best sandwich in Atlanta in 2014. Land lovers will find plenty to choose from including filet mignon, juicy ½ lb. burgers as well as house smoked chicken. Leaving room for dessert may be difficult but is highly encouraged. Desserts are made in house and include our popular and interactive Backyard S’mores. The full bar offers rotating taps, 40 wines by the glass and craft cocktails. Jason, William and our friendly staff invite you to come eat, drink and hang out with us at our cozy little beach shack.
