Job Description

As the chef, you’ll take complete responsibility for every plate that gets served and the overall direction of the menu. You will be responsible for hiring and supervising the kitchen staff and coaching employees on consistency, technique and skills. You will be expected to hold to a certain food and labor budget.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the food prep process
  • Plan & order ingredients and necessary equipment
  • Arrange for kitchen repairs when needed
  • Use P&L statements to effectively manage costs and meet budgets
  • Hire, manage, and train kitchen staff
  • Oversee kitchen staff, looking for opportunities to counsel or coach
  • Foster cooperation, collaboration and respect
  • Have knowledge of and enforce all safety and sanitation requirements

About Lula Restaurant Distillery

Lula was the first restaurant distillery combination in the Southeast United States. We produce our own vodka, gin and rum in house, and the still is visible in the restaurant through a window wall. We place an emphasis on staff education about spirits and spirit production. We also have a private event space that provides an opportunity to work large scale events such as weddings and banquets. Our staff enjoys that their week can include a variety of jobs. All of our managers and bartenders have been promoted from within, so there is lots of opportunity for growth.
