Job Description
Pay Rate: Minimum plus tips, our hosts typically make $21-25/hour with wages and tips included.
La Puerta is the go to, neighborhood cantina. We have been serving up hospitality, Mexican food, and rock-n-roll. Being one of San Diego's largest mezcal bars in the Gaslamp for 14 years, and we recently opened a second location in Mission Hills. We are a fast-paced workplace, with lots of variety and moving parts. We are looking for an organized leader that has fun by making things happen and executing great service, day after day, and making friends along the way. We take great pride in our product and our hospitality. Values like integrity and professionalism, are close to our hearts. As host, you'll be the conductor of the orchestra that is service. You are the first impression of the restaurant and set the tone for guests' experiences. You will answer phones, take reservations, and be responsible for seating guests according to server availability. Your attention to detail and communication are critically important. You are also the last note of the experience, and will wish guests farewell and invite them to come back.
Our hosts often multitask, assisting in bussing and food running and we strive to offer a clear path to promotion as we prioritize advancement from within the company.
