Job Description
The Ice Cream Maker will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Ice Cream department and coaching staff on a wide variety of techniques and skills. Your skill in making ice cream should be matched by your creativity to innovate and create new product offerings.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and maintain quality of all product and presentation
- Oversee all aspects of the daily operation of pastry production areas
- Receive, check and properly store all incoming product
- Know and comply with all sanitation standards
- Schedule pastry and bread production based on business needs and communicate to staff
- Prepare reports as needed - including payroll and scheduling
- Review vendor pricing structures and adjust product as needed
- Operate, teach and supervise safe operation of all appliances and equipment
- Handle conflict resolution of guests and staff as needed

About Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream
On a hot summer day in July, 1945, Alice Handel began serving ice cream out of her husbands gas station in Youngstown, Ohio. Her first batches were made using old fashioned recipes with fresh fruit she picked from her own backyard. Since then, Handel’s has grown to include locations in California, Florida, Indiana, Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Arizona and Oregon. The menu has expanded to include over 100 flavors of homemade ice cream and yogurt. Handel’s success has been documented in many national publications including USA Today, People Magazine, Chocolatier Magazine, and US News and World Report.
