About The Ragtrader & Bo Peep Cocktail & Highball Store
The Rag Trader and Bo Peep Cocktail & Highball Store is a handsome, three-story restaurant/speakeasy/piano bar opened in December 2017 as a tribute to the artisans to and workers whose industry sustained the garment manufacturing businesses throughout the NYC Garment district during its mid-20th century heyday.
A garment factory for 75 years, Mark Fox preserved the architectural elements he could, built-in elements that would evoke the old factory and collected vintage décor items and commissioned new furniture to bring a “softness and understated opulence” to the space. During construction, brick walls and concrete floors were exposed to bring out the beauty of the building’s humble beginnings as a garment factory. Each dining room showcases different knitting and sewing tools complemented by fashion décor from the 1940s-1950s, creating an environment that is uniquely welcoming.
Rag Trader diners can enjoy lunch, dinner or brunch in the intimate Hat Box, or Tailor’s Corner which overlooks the gas-fired pizza oven. Adjacent to the expansive bar, Sketch Corner has tall communal tables perfect for large parties. At the front of the restaurant is a spacious, lively dining room that included a street-side patio area with seasonal décor.
