They say first impressions are everything, and you only have one chance to get it right. That being said, the first impression you get after sitting down in a restaurant is the one set by a server, so servers – make it a good one.

Jenna of Peached Tortilla“When greeting a guest I always approach the table with a smile. I then start with telling the guest a little background information about The Peached Tortilla to really get them comfortable with the style of food and service we provide. I always make suggestions on my favorites and my end goal is to get the guest to try something new and out of their comfort zone!” – Jenna Paul, server and assistant general manager of The Peached Tortilla.

Yesenia Ramos of Irene's“My number 1 tip on greeting a table while making a memorable impression is to always be genuine. Before giving them my menu spiel, I ask if it is their first time at the restaurant, if they are in for drinks, food or both, and let them know that I will be more than happy to answer any questions.” – Yesenia Ramos, server at Irene’s.

Chance Ramsey of Contigo“When greeting a table, it’s not exactly what you say but what you do. The best thing you can do is greet someone with a warm smile. Greet them not like you’re about to serve them but greet them as you would greet anyone coming into your house. The main thing about hospitality is making somebody feel warm and welcome, and just make it look like you’re happy to see them. At the end of the day, it’s a restaurant – it’s food, drinks, and everybody is having a good time. If you’re having a good time as well it shows. People like that warm and inviting welcome. Just a warm smile is the best thing to greet a table.” – Chance Ramsey, assistant general manager at Contigo.
